Douglas Fir Plywood Face Grades

  • A-Grade – Smooth, sanded, nearly knot-free.

  • B-Grade – Solid surface with minor repairs.

  • C-Grade – Some knots and splits, strong for structural use.

  • D-Grade – More visible defects, for utility or hidden construction.

Douglas Fir Plywood Types & Uses

  • ACX – A smooth face / C back, exterior glue. For siding, outdoor furniture, painted projects.

  • BCX – B face / C back, exterior glue. For shelving, paneling, semi-exposed uses.

  • CDX – C face / D back, exterior glue. Standard for roof sheathing, wall sheathing, subfloors.

  • CD (Interior) – C face / D back, interior glue. For dry, interior-only construction.

  • A-Grade Panels – High-quality, sanded, furniture-grade finish. For cabinets, fine furniture, finish work.

  • C & D Panels – Lower appearance, structural strength. For subfloors, underlayment, hidden construction.
