Built to Last. Treated to Endure.
A Short History of Wood PreservationFor more than 100 years, builders have used pressure-treated wood to protect structures from rot, insects, moisture, and marine damage.
Early 1900s: Logs and pilings floated in rivers and the ocean; saltwater naturally preserved wood before milling.
1930s–40s: CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate) became the most widely used heavy-duty preservative for poles, pilings, and marine structures.
1951: Copper Naphthenate approved for ground contact and marine-grade protection.
1990s–2000s: ACQ and Copper Azole replaced CCA for most residential lumber-like decks and fencing.
Today: CCA, Copper Naphthenate, Borate, and CA-C are used for different environments and applications.

What We Treat
Conrad Forest Products supplies long-lasting treated wood solutions for nearly every job:
Decking, fencing, and outdoor lumber (CA-C)
Large timbers, beams, and structural posts
Utility poles, pilings, and marine-grade timbers (CCA and Copper Naphthenate)
Saltwater and freshwater structures such as piers, docks, seawalls, and floating logs used historically in Hawaii
Each treatment is carefully matched to the environment—ground contact, freshwater, saltwater, or full marine immersion.

Why Treatment Matters
Pressure treatment provides essential protection:
Prevents rot and decay
Stops termites and insect damage
Protects pilings from marine borers
Reduces moisture and saltwater deterioration
